Maintaining your caravan solar panels is key to ensuring that they are working at their most efficient. Dust, grime, tree sap and bird droppings can block the sun from efficient absorption by the panels.

Fortunately solar panel maintenance is fairly simple.

1. Give the solar panels a good hose down (or a shower of rain).
2. Stand on a ladder on the side of the caravan. Use a soft broom, sponge or a soft window cleaning squeegee and clean with soapy water to remove anything on the surface of the panels.
3. Hose off any soap residue.
4. Ensure you remove any leaves and clean underneath the solar panels. Solar panels work most efficiently when they are cool and any matter underneath the panels that prevents the air-flow around the panels will have your panels retaining extra heat and not working as effectively.

For your safety and the longevity of the panels – never apply pressure or stand on the panels. While you are looking at the solar panels, we recommend taking an extra few seconds to inspect the seals around the solar panel mounts and the electrical cable to check for leaks. Identifying and fixing worn seals is a great way of preventing costly repairs when the summer storms hit.

A little cleaning is all the only caravan solar panel maintenance that is needed to keep your panels absorbing the most amount of rays.
