Grey water tanks and mobile tanks are used to collect sink, shower and washing machine waste water and are separate from a black water tank which is solely for the toilet. Grey water can contain detergents, grease and cleaning chemicals and many national parks and free camps are now requiring self sufficient campers to hold their grey water to dispose it in designated drains or outside of the park or campground as a way of helping the environment. Installing a grey water tank under your caravan is a convenient option as you can hold your grey water until you are able to empty the tank (no lugging buckets around) and it also avoids a muddy puddle underneath the van. Having a grey water tank installed also means that you can easily use your caravan or motorhome on the side of the road without having to roll out your sullage hose

What’s the best option for you?

Fully installed – Grey water tanks are installed underneath the caravan and are suited to caravans that have the clearance height to fit the tank. We stock and install tanks that feature a V shaped profile to ensure that all of the contents empty every time. Almost all of our customers choose to add a tank level monitor. There are a couple of types of tank level monitors with options to suit all budgets. One of our preferred styles is the dip-stick style monitors as the sensor can be easily removed for cleaning. A fully installed grey water tank with a monitor is very convenient and is a popular caravan/ motorhome upgrade.

Go mobile – If you have a caravan without the space for a tank, or you are only occasionally free camping or staying in national parks, then a mobile grey water tank might be a good solution. The mobile tanks can simply be connected with the sullage hose (or a short length of hose) and having the tank on wheels makes it an easier job than carrying buckets around to discard the grey water.
