A leaking caravan roof is one of the most common reasons for water ingress in any van. Much of the time it can be due to a lack of maintenance, as some owners find inspecting the roof too difficult – as you can't walk on the roof, and accessing via a ladder can be dangerous.
Water can appear inside the van – normally in the upper cupboards, or as stain marks on the walls. Finding the source of the leak can be tricky, as it's not always where the water appears – as water can track through the roof frame and appear elsewhere.
Apart from regular maitenance – checking and re-sealing joins – a complete caravan roof restoration using a special product designed for roof resealing – which also provides additional insulative properties can be a fantastic way to prevent future leaks!
