Damage to a caravan from a hail storm may not appear to be too bad at a first look. Dents may be hard to pick from a distance but the damage often goes much deeper than the exterior. Damage to the exterior surface often allows water ingress and water is the nemesis of timber in a caravan. Our highly-trained staff were able to identify the major problems created by water that were hiding under the sheeting of this van.
A close inspection of this van shows that there are hail dents and water has caused timber to warp but the extent of the damage is not revealed until the exterior sheeting is removed. I promised a naked caravan and here it is. Note the timber which has rotted with mould.
So these are the before photos. You can imagine the health implications and potential respiratory problems caused by living in a caravan lined with black mould. There is a happy ending: new quality timber framing to replace all damage and new aluminium sheeting for that beautiful “brand new” caravan look. The owners were delighted with the result.
If your caravan has been touched by a hail storm or if you suspect that your caravan may have water damage, give us a call at the RV Service Centre. We are happy to run a trained eye over your van and identify whether there is damage hiding under the sheets (or fiberglass) of your caravan.
